Default question re rain.

So I took my first longer trip on my street glide and it was good.
I do have a question. There was supposed to be rain coming home. Heavy rain. As I was examining my bike before leaving I noticed large gaps between the inner and outer fairing in he corners where the the three pouch bag and windshield meet between the inner and outer fairing. I was concerned about water getting in there thinking that it would damage the electronics. I put pieces of duck tape over. It didn't rain but that just doesn't seem like a food design. Am I being paranoid or is this A legitimate concern.
P.s. I can't believe how much stuff can fit in those bags.

The gap has been widely noted on here so your not alone there. As for damage I have no idea but I think these bike were made to be water resistant.

Default I saw a lot

Of posts about the gap between front fairing and windshield. The hap I am talking about is at the corners. So there is one on each side. They are pretty big gaps between front and inner fairings each side of fairing.

I was told last week that Harley is working on it. Its the three pocket pouch that is causing the gap. No fix yet but I was told NOT to buy the pouch yet, wait until Harley fixes the problem.

The wiring harness connections in the fairing are all sealed and the entertainment system is up high and in the center. A gap left or right of the windshield would be centered over the speaker pods, which are air tight plastic housings.

I don't like gaps for cosmetic reasons but a gap at the edge of the windshield wouldn't cause me any concern in the rain.

Since I had some 3M window weld laying around, I applied a small amount in the gaps next to the windshields. Window weld is used for windshield installation and remains pliable. It also remain sticky and easy to clean off.

NONE of the batwing fairings are watertight. The slot where the windshield sits is not gasketed. Water can (and almost certainly does) enter there, among other places. I suspect the electrics within are designed/spec'd with this in mind.

I've ridden in plenty of rain with no problems. I personally haven't given it a second thought and I've now got almost 10,000 miles on my Ultra Limited - at least half of which were with the pouches installed, and a substantial amount of rain riding.
