2014 Tour pack relocation bracket for $32.00!!!!
Hi guys, I own a Street Glide but I also got the king tour pack for when my fiancé rides with me, but we needed more room. I noticed on the quick detach hardware on the pack, it does allow for a 1" travel....but that was not enough for me. We are not tiny people with 10% body fat by no means. I looked around and found a couple of brackets, but I didn't want to pay over $150 to $250 for it.
I went to home depot and got a piece of 1 1/4" x 36" of 1/4" thick bar steel, along with stainless steel 5/16 x 1" bolts, along with lock washers and nuts (4 of each). I also grabbed a can of rustoleum flexidip paint which gives the steel a nice rubberized coating, and dries fast. I also picked up a set of drill bits since I needed a full set ($12.99)...so if you have your own it will be cheaper than 32.00.
Take the rack off of the tour pack and notice how the bolt guides are not equally straight in line with each other before you start drilling holes. I mounted the bracket to the factory mounting points (2 1/8" and 10 1/2") Once I had it tight, you will have to drill out the 2" and 4" back mounting points through the factory bracket (the new fabricated piece helps as a guide to keep the bit from wandering). Here are my measurements (looks like a kid drew it.....I know.....LOL)
After drilling the holes, I took it apart and sanded it down smooth, I did a test fit again before paint. I attached the new bracket to the factory mount first, and then attached the pack to the mounts I have marked out on the 4" mark.
And here it is done.
Since there is a gap now, I will be ordering the filler pad from Kuryakyn for $29.99 http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/407...-pak-relocator
I had my fiancé sit on it with me to check it out and she loves it, we will be on the road tomorrow to really check it out (and bring a small pillow for the gap just in case). Not a bad mod to improve on comfort!!!

I took everyones advice into consideration and took the bike out for a ride with the fiancé today. Nice 3 hour ride and I didn't feel anything different in the handling, and she tracked very well through the curves. Now I just need to find someone to make me a seat pad to fill-in the difference!

A friend of mine made one out of the adjustable drivers seat from a sports car. He just had to cut it to length and narrow it up. It adjusts 6" in 1" increments. The only way you can tell anything was done is the adjusting lever is visible if you know its there. Gotta love them home-do-it-yourselfers!!
