Hd service manual states 5k but they also say to wait till 10k for the primary and 20k for the tranny which I think is way to long. My mechanic changes all there fluids every 5k and I run synthetic in the motor and primary but a tranny fluid in the tranny. So while 2500 would be great I think it's wasting money if your running synthetic.
2500 with synthetic for me. All vehicle manufacturers are under pressure from the government to extend oil change intravel times to save oil. I don't trust the recommendation. One thing is clear; your engine can only gain from clean lubricant.

It may be overkill but you can't disagree with that logic either...
I guess there is really nothing wrong with more frequent oil change if you are riding often on short trips, & engine has no time to fully warmup...however, mileage alone IMO, should not really be a basis for oil change intervals but oil life should be measured by the number of hours elapsed...noticed the highend Diesel engines have hour meters...
My dealer recommends an oil change at 2500 miles. Besides another way to make money, is this really necessary?
It certainly can't hurt but I think it's a waste of money, especially if you are running synthetic which if you're not, would be a much better use of your money.
I do a 500 mile oil change, a 1000 mile, then 5k after that. At the 500 mile I switch to synthetic in the engine. At 1000 mile all 3 hole are filled with synthetic.
