Wow, I am surprised how many riders are having trouble with XM reception. I installed the module today, and have great reception; even in the twisties. Maybe I am one of the lucky ones.

Default All depends on where you are

Not sure if these units work the same way as my old XM but my old XM unit had both a sat and Radio component.

Now with mine in some cities even in tunnels no drop. In others dang thing can't hold a signal if you connected the sat signal via cable.

So yah in my travels - big sky country works well. Plant a bush near it and poof all achy breaky signals.

So yes rather disappointed.

Some cities have ground based repeaters, that might explain how you're getting the signal in a tunnel, but boy the stars would have to be aligned perfectly for that to work.

My XM is not the HD module add-on, I move my receiver between home, car, bike and work.

Does the HD module give you the option to "check signal"? On my unit I can tell if I'm getting the signal via satellite or local repeater.

I've had my HD XM now for two months now, no issues. Every now and then I'll go under an overpass and it'll cut out but no big deal.

x m radio reception and popping noise on 2014 FLHTKSE-antenna.jpg

I was having XM reception problems on my '14 Limited and relocating the antenna to the top of the inner fairing made a big difference. I still lose reception on occasion but not nearly as much as before moving the antenna.

It will show up to 3 bars if its getting a strong signal.

Opps my mistake.

On my receiver, it shows me both the ground-based on satellite signal strengths.

Thanks
