My solution to plate relocation for tour pack detach kit
I really didn't like the plate mount that comes with the hd kit. I tossed around several ideas and decided on a curved led plate and mounted it on the bottom of fender. Other pic shows where I hung it below, but I didn't really like it that way.

Your plate solution MAY get you by in your state maybe but most states including my own require the license plate to have a clear light and be illuminated. That's why I did the layback plate mount on mine. Maybe yours does have some type of illumination, I just didn't see it, so I thought I'd offer another alternative

to bry, the plate kit I got was from kuryakyn. It is a curved kit made for Honda vtx with a built in led light along the top. I cut the triangle mount off the back in order for it to lay on the fender. When u take the factory light off there are two mounting holes. I used them to mark the position of plate mount. I put some rubber washer in between and used button head allen bolts with lock nuts on them. The best part is the kit came with the correct plug to plug into the taillight housing.
For gunny, It does have white leds along the top just hard to show in the pic. when I added the detach kit the lights on saddle bag are so bright I didn't mind giving up the running light on the fender and I like the clean look I ended up with.

My handlebars are the Wild One Chubby 578s. 10 inch. I wanted to keep my hands behind the fairing on this build. Brake Line was fine as is, I had to do just a bit of relocating on the clutch line. I used 4" extended NAMZ wires, plug and play. Stock TBW wire is plenty long enough but the other control wiring was stretched to far to reach safely so I put the 4" extensions on, saves a lot of headaches later when you put too much pressure stretching wires. Pretty easy swap.
