Default CB INSTALL ON 2014 FLHXS - Street Glide Special

Hello Folks,
I have the lighted switches that come with PTT switch, comm cable and headset, J&M hidden CB antenna. Everything is hooked up,but radio does not recognize CB. I have 6.5 radio (streetglide special)

Do you have to get radio re-flashed to recognize CB???

I'm fairly certain you need the CB module (Bike to Bike comms module). However the CB module does not list FLHX/S as a compatible bike. I honestly dont see why the module won't work.

Even with the module a dealer Flash is required.

You didn't list it, did you also install the CB module? If so my bike (FLHX) recognized the CB after the install but to use it you need the radio flashed for the intercom to work.

Default CB Module on FLHXS

Hello,

I did install the module and in did not recognize in under the communication section. The communication cable does work because I use that for my voice recognition. I have module kit number 76000486. There is a typo in parts catalog. It is good for FLHXS (SPECIAL) as well. So I believe I need the radio re-flashed. Step 7 in the instructions say,
"HAVE THE DEALER PERFORM SOFTWARE UPDATE"

Did you do a bunch of fancy splicing? The write up in the audio section seemed pretty involved. My dealer said it wasn't possible.

Mike- by no means am I the authority on any of this but that's kind of odd, I'd take it down for the flash.

Rustrtal- The CB install is actually pretty easy, just takes a little time. Here's a link to my dropbox with instructions in both MS Word and PDF format. It looks way more complicated than it really is.

Default CB flash required on 6.5 radio on FLHXS?

Hello Scott,

I already installed everything. Just wanted to if you had to get radio flashed by Harley?

Mike- yes you'll have to take it in for the flash, I'll spare you the rant on my feelings about that, I've beat that horse to death already

Scott,
I don't know if I'll ever install the CB, but I've got to compliment you on your write-up... that's outstanding!
