Default CB flash required on 6.5 radio on FLHXS?

Hello Scott,

Thanks for letting me know that you had to re-flash to recognize the CB. I plan to take it in on Thursday and I will let you know if it all worked out.

Thanks, Mike

Thanks guys, I'm slightly **** about doing things and seeing as how bad HD directions usually are I figured I'd make sure even someone with no mechanical skill could do this install.

Mike- please do, the first time I had my radio flashed they did it wrong, second dealer fixed it and it works fine. Even before the flash I was able to see the CB so it's kind of odd you can't see it yet.

Hello Scott, So I took my bike to Harley and they tried to flash it and the radio still does not recognize it. It is currently still at the shop since Wednesday. I told them that my other 2014 streetglide did recognize it right away. They are also looking at why the AVC does not work.. I will keep you posted. The good thing about having two bike is that I can leave the other at shop until they fix

Sorry to hear it's still not working Mike, nice you have 2 bikes though. When the first dealer I went to flashed the radio they messed something up and moved the CB to the "media" menu, the second dealer was able to correct that. I still haven't been able to get in the service area to watch the computer they hook up, but the tech did tell me it was a pretty simple thing to do, a couple clicks and intercom/CB is on. I guess it is possible your CB module may be bad too. Sorry I don't know more than that.

Default CB Module on FLHXS installation success

Hello All,

Quick update on Installation of the CB on 2014 FLHXS. Everything is now working. Harley had to completely redo the software in the INFOTAINMENT system. When they did that is also fixed my AVC issue.

In summary here are all the parts I used to do installation:

1) Lighted Hand Control Switches-71500248 (HAS PTT button)
2) Boom! Audio Bike-to-Bike Communications Kit-76000486
3) J&M FLEXPOWERŽ CB Antenna 2014 Harley Ultra/StrGld w/Harley CB Radio - FPA-HCCB-14
4) Boom! Audio Music and Communications Kit-69200865

When I installed the communication cable I went beyond the installed and got a 2014 CVO console

My bike is fully provision with all functions to the radio

Great news Mike, glad to hear it's now working. That console is on my list of things to do, don't like where the headset connector is now.

Thanks BoHacker!

I was hoping for an answer to this question myself, since I'm considering doing it as well. After a little research, it looks like here's what it'll cost:

1) Lighted Hand Control Switches-71500248 (HAS PTT button) $250
2) Boom! Audio Bike-to-Bike Communications Kit-76000486 $325
3) J&M FLEXPOWERŽ CB Antenna 2014 Harley Ultra/StrGld w/Harley CB Radio - FPA-HCCB-14 $90
4) Boom! Audio Music and Communications Kit-69200865 $70

So, all together you're looking at $735, just for parts. Of course, the lighted hand control switch is not essential, so you can subtract that if you want. Also, these are H-D list prices. We all know you can do a little better.
FYI, My local dealer said it was $225 for the install. It's about 2 hrs.

I did my own CB install with the lighted switches, hidden antenna, com kit, CB module. My bike recognized the CB right away. I later had it at the dealer for the 1000k service and they said I didn't need any flash - it was working fine. FWIW the CB module instructions claim a flash by the dealer is required, and so do the instructions for the bike-to-bike com harness. The dealer said neither was necessary. Both work fine.
It was a couple hours of work to install, including installing the hidden FM antenna at the same time along with my toll transponder.
