Interesting Article on HD Bolt-on Horsepower
I picked up the latest issue of American Iron (issue #311).. because I was stuck in an airport, and I find the tech "do it yourself" articles informative. Anyway, they got hold of a 2014 Rushmore Roadking. They dynoed it right away and got 73 hp and almost 92 ft-pounds of torque. They then went on to install the Agitator air intake, and the "recommended HD tune... Threw it back on the dyno and got 80 hp and 95 ft-pounds of torque. An increase in 7 extra ponies and almost 4 extra ft-pounds. This was all done without the addition of pipes/exhaust.
Am I crazy in being overly impressed with these results? I guess I'm mostly impressed with the fact that this is something that I could do in my garage (believe me, I'm no wrench)... Getting my 2004 Roadking up to 80 horses with that kind of torque seemed to require so much more work... Or maybe my memory after 10 years is skewed.
Anyway, thought it was an interesting bit of info. I am still not educated on all the "PVC-power-fuel-commando" type products that are available on the market. I'm sure that many will tell me that there's much better options on the market over the HD tune. But I'm impressed still none the less. After 10 years on my Twinkie , maybe I impress too easily....

The Harley's come detuned to a degree to meet Federal air guidelines...a simple tune and less air restriction can do wonders.Throw some pipes on there and the horsepower gets up into the 90s and torque over 105! Don't forget those extra inches on the new motor make a big difference. IMHO there's no substitute for cubic inches
