1000 mile service
Was looking for some advise about doing the 1000 mile service my self
Anybody done there's? Does it affect the warranty? I have done my fluid changes in the past my self but never the 1000 mile one. Any help on what else this involves other than the fluids.
And is there any special tools required?
Thanks

The first inspection is mostly that to cover Harley. The fluid change with a manual and youtube is pretty simple. A good mechanic can pretty much eyeball the fasteners and such. For safety sake till you get all caught up with a service manual, my opinion is bite the bullet and let the dealer handle it. Most Harley dealers offer it free when you buy if you ask

There isn't a whole lot to the 1000 mile service. The biggest part is the fluid change. The rest includes an inspection of key fasteners and the belt tension. I bought the service manual and picked up a belt tension testing tool on Amazon. This is the first Harley I've owned and doing the service myself gave me a chance to see how things are put together. Unless something pops up, I'll probably do my 5000 service myself also.

I did the 1,000 miles service myself. I will be doing all the rest unless something is under warranty. I also did it on my previous fatboy with all the services done myself up to the 39,000 miles b4 traded to my 14 Limited. The shop manual is your best friend for your answers. I also have the parts and electrical manuals for more information if needed. My dealer wanted $350 to do mine. I choose to do it myself for the price of oil, o rings, and a gallon of coolant just in case? It's easier to mad at yourself if you mess something up. Just the way I see it.
