Installed the fugly fangs...
#41
I have always been annoyed by the buffeting caused by the air rushing from under the tank, main thing was causing my glasses to buzz and had a blur in vision around 75 mph. Thought I would give the fork air deflectors a try although I don't like the looks of them. Installed a pair Friday night as I had a nice ride coming up the next day. I have to say it was night and day difference in turbulence! Rode about 350 miles yesterday, they may be fugly but it would tuff to take them off with the difference they made. Rode a few hours into the night and also have to add the hd reflector led it awesome compared to the stock, lights up both side of the rode and high beam shoots a nice beam down the road.

BLUF: Fangs had the biggest effect on eliminating turbulent wind from below the tank. IMHO the 7" WS will be my default windshield with the 8" LRS used for inclement weather riding as necessary.
The longer version: The fangs pretty much eliminated the turbulent air flowing from below the tank which was most of my problem. As expected the 8" LRS Ultra throws air higher than the 7" HD Wind Splitter. The LRS is a MUCH larger unit (height and width) than the WS. I'm 5'8", 30" inseam and ride with a full-face Shoei GT-Air. The 7" WS sends a nice stream of clean air right at the top of my helmet visor - even with the visor up I get a smooth breeze; no buffeting or head rocking. Great for warm weather riding. The 8" LRS throws the air about 2" over the top of my helmet leaving me in a pretty good sized "dead air" pocket. This will probably be most useful when riding in the rain or cold conditions. While I'm not looking through the LRS, it sits high enough into my line of sight that I do notice it as opposed to the WS. Figure its something I will get used to as I ride around with it more.

Well I admit it. Some times it takes a "special" kind of idiot. Ha! I read several posts that said don't install them backwards and I'm thinking to myself who would be stupid enough to install them backwards. Well I resemble that remark. It wasn't until someone said that the curve part goes towards the rider.
Installed this morning. They look good. Hopefully I can jump on the interstate for a few moments today and test them out.
Thanks to everyone that contributed!

Two different animals. The windshield blocks the air coming directly at you. The fangs block air coming up from below past your knees and the gas tank. Changing windshield sizes has no effect on how the fangs perform. If the shield isn't directing air up past the crown of your head then it's too short (you're too tall) and you may not be pleased. Fangs will still be working as they shud tho.

I think it looks good.
I rented a SG last fathers day for my pops and took it out one night after the ride. I HATED the buffeting. Worse than my night train. Good option to fix it it seems like.
Now for everyone that wants them in matte or gloss black powder coat...send them to me!

To answer my own question, they work awesome together. Just got the fangs on and it doesn't make much difference up until about 55 then its really noticeable. Very smooth.
