I am seeing that these mount on the outside of the light bar bracket, where there is the possibility of scratching that bracket on the outside visible surface if removed. For those of you that have mounted these and then removed them was there ant damage to the underlying chrome on the light bar mounting bracket? Anyone installed them on the inside of the bracket instead or can that be done?

Like others have posted - fangs fixed my buffeting from below @ >60 mph. Might have them painted to match the bike but either way they are staying on. Function over form any day. I've got a 7" wind splitter windshield on the bike and a 8" LRS Ultra Elite waiting to be installed and tested. The wind splitter felt great up to 85 mph - don't foresee any interstate cruising issues. Already had the LRS on order so we'll see if it feels different. Prefer the look of the 7" but for long touring the extra rain/cold/etc protection potential provided by the LRS could be handy.

Here are the HD fangs with the 7" wind splitter on the bike:

The set from JE's mounts behind all the light brackets you are talking about. Sits up against the bike frame and not on the chrome light bar mounts at all. Dunno about the HD sets.

any idea on a Road King if that leaves room for the black windshield mount grommets as well?

Not sure. Took a look at the website and noticed the set I bought doesn't mention Road King fitment. I'd give him a call and see what he has to say. Never talked to him myself but others say he's an easy going guy to deal with.

The HD fangs mount behind the turn signal light bracket.

Two more:

1) Has anyone tried the Paughco version? They look like a pretty direct copy of the Gen 1 HD deflectors.

2) is there any experience here of the old vs new HD deflectors? I believe I read they are a couple inches shorter and a little less effective? Can any confirm or deny?

The new version appears to be somewhat smaller, but I believe just as effective. The installation did not effect the rubber grommets of the windshield mounts, at least on my RK anyway...

I went to the Harley dealer in the Woodlands TX and the guy at the parts counter told me that they haven't made one for the 14 SG yet. Thanks for posting the p/n, I checked the Harley site and confirmed this is for the 14SG. Second time the guy that works in parts appeared to be clueless in 2 times that I have tried to get help. Apparently I am better at his job than he is. It's no wonder they don't like the forums. Would have been nice to have them on the bike yesterday with all the wind.

Definitely want these, fugly or not.

Yet another convert to these. Along with the 8.5" shield (Klock Werks) on my SG, there's a world of difference between the 'stock' setup. "Looks" become secondary in the face of such an improvement in 'comfort'.
