Default Weatherband

Ok, so I see that there are 6 or 8 weatherbands....most have nothing but static. Ok, all of them have static but one has distant voices speaking a language that seems like english but I still don't understand.

Is there something we are supposed to be doing to make that work better?

You might want to read more info regarding NWR (NOAA Weather Radio). Try this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NOAA_Weather_Radio

And for more specific to your area coverage, check out the south Texas county/station coverage map: http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/Maps/PHP...Sort=WF#County

Hope this helps with your question.

Ever hear of the saying, "I doin't want to know how you built the watch, I just want to know what time it is"?

But, I have read some of what you posted and am gathering that these are stations that are pre-programmed into the radio and in the event that there is something going on I would be able to find information on one of these depending on what region I am in. And thanks for the info, it was very very very informative. Quick answer, nothing to do.

If you have the XM radio option, you can get current weather, moving weather maps and the forecast for your current area or any place in the USA or Canada you will be heading.

I live in Spring Texas, near Houston, I can forecast this summer without anything other than history. It's going to be HOT and HUMID with no chance of RAIN.

No XM either. I was just wondering if all that static was normal or if I was supposed to do something to set it up. Apparently it's normal. I do need to go in and turn off the WB interrupt feature as mentioned on another thread.
