Default Fast Aire 7" Windshield on 14 SG

So, I am 6ft tall (32 inseam...I think) and was having a problem not being able to hear the exhaust tone because all of the air whooshing by my ears and also have had a few really close encounters with bugs on my goggles and ears and forehead using the stock windscreen. So, I decided to try out the Fast Aire 7" which is about 1-1/2 to 2" taller. I have to say, problem solved. It barely looks different from stock and now I can hear the radio and exhaust much better. I still get some wind on my face but it's just the right amount. I am sold!! At low speeds there is no real noticeable wind noise and at 60 I can hear the radio on about 1/4 volume. Pretty slick. I tried with the batwing vent closed and there was a lot of buffeting but open it's smooth as silk.

Just thought I would share that for anyone looking. There seems to be a lot of opinion that lower wind guards would help but I noticed that the wind was hitting me right in the middle of my face not coming from below. I am sure that any wind deflection helps something or another but this was what did it for me.

Ok, after a few hundred miles I can say....it's as smooth as silk "compared" to the stock. It's been overly windy here the last few weeks and I can say without a doubt I still need some help with the wind. Going to pick up fork mounted wind deflectors this week and will see how that works. The 7" Fast Aire was definitely an improvement but still need more.

I added a 6.5" recurve on mine and it also made all the difference for me. I am curious tho, I noticed that on mine where the fairing trim meets the windshield, there is a gap. It is large enough that I'm concerned about water getting in the fairing if caught in the rain.

It's easiest seen from the side looking at the windshield. I'm also with the majority and have a small gap between the center and outer screws, but that's been there since day 1 even with stock shield.

I have two aftermarket shields and they both sit the same (half moon 10" and the 6.5 recurve).

The fork defectors did the trick. Its a really good improvement over stock. Pretty sure I didn't need the new windshield, might put stock back and see if there is a difference.

Adding a 7 inch windshield seems to work for a lot of guy's, short enough to see over
and tall enough to move the wind over the helmet.

Wind just catches my hair but with a helmet I don't even feel it with the 7". Buffeting stopped after the fork wind deflectors though.
