I have the stock shield with the fork wind deflectors and it removed the buffeting.

I think the two issues with the SG are the low wind screen and the lack of lowers. I have a Limited with the HD 7" windscreen and it's nice and quiet. The wind hits me right at the top of my helmet and nothing from below.

No, but you can powdercoat. That's where mine are headed next.

Same here...the newer style pc'd, I'm hoping they will do the trick as everyone says.
