I realize this is rare; as a owner I don't see any first year design issues with the wet heads or Rushmore's for that matter. We have one poster that has 25,000 miles on his 14 Limited and counting. He reported the bike as great. Best Harley he has owned.

As it has been said, to each their own. It's great that Harley made air cooled as well as wet heads for those with different preferences or just different riding conditions. Overall, the twin cooled bikes have been a real sales success.
I understand your enthusiasm for the '14's, as I own and '11 and a '14. There is no comparison. The '14 is a better bike. I have taken the bottle of coolant out of my saddlebag that I used to carry at all times. However, I would not go so far as say "HAD" a problem. There are people who still have thermostats leaking. I'm not writing off the possibility of a new leak developing just yet.

Hit 5,000 miles this weekend after 6 months of winter, had the filler neck recall done, no problems besides the recalls from Harley. I believe liquid cooling may be here whether we like it or not, the 14's run excellent, of course slip ons, intake and xieds still help.

Just turned 900 miles on my bike today. Parked in the garage and went inside. Came back out, and a puddle under the bike. Thought for sure I was gonna be one of the lucky ones. Going to have the recall done this week.

Not the brightest decision to have neglected the filler neck program.

That's the very first thing I got done on my bike when we thawed out last month even though I put on 1500 trouble free miles before winter.

That said, I don't get all the recent naysaying about the wet heads. There were two issues, one major and one minor, both fixed now. Any "puking" I've read about recently have been due to either owners or dealers failing to replace the know bad parts.

Bought my Limited on Dec. 24th, built the middle of November. Asked the dealer about the leaks and he showed me the repair sheet for the filler neck issue. Middle of Jan. I noticed the thermo housing drip, I called Empire (selling dealer), they picked the bike up here on Long Island, they called the MoCo who overnighted them a new part and they had the bike back to me in 4 days. No problems since, a very minor inconvenience at most. No leaks, no wobble, no infotainment issues (other than the learning curve), no dead battery, pretty much nothing, bikes been as close to perfect as I could hope for. Finding neutral still a minor grunt but I remember my '06 being a pain for awhile.

I have a 14 FLHTK. 15,000 - no leaks. I did not have the filler neck replaced because it hasn't leaked. I think HD has identified one problem and established a product program to fix it ... the filler neck. However some owners have reported a problem with the thermostat housing leaking where it took multiple replacements of the housing before the leak was corrected. Does this mean another product program might be coming? Another thing to keep in mind is that many of the bikes have yet to be ridden many miles since we endured a long & cold winter. Also these bikes only began to hit the streets at the very end of August so in many areas of the country they have not been exposed to hot temperatures. I do hope that the problems with the leaks are behind us but in reality I think it would be a little premature to say they "had" a problem.

I use HAD because the leak issue on the 14 wet heads is resolved. The MoCo knows what caused it and has responded with a fix. All owners of effected bikes should have the fill neck fixed.

I live in California. Once the fill neck was replaced the leaks stopped and I was able to continue riding all winter. This spring we have had some warm days; still no issues.

They are great bikes. No heat issues, no pinging while riding in warm temps and stock. I could not be happier. After 25 years of Harley ownership and 12 new bikes, this is a keeper.
