Just wanted to verify what speeds you ran the 130/60/21 up to and how long held there. I just bought a new 21" wheel that came with a new Avon Cobra 120/70/21 installed. Mine trips the abs light if i run over 50 for a mile or so. I tried the 10 miles at under 50 mph which didnt work, i asked Harley dealer if there was a ecm flash yet, which i was told there is not. My dealer stocks the 130/60/21 and i have no problem buying one if it actually solves the problem at all speeds. Just dont want to be running 85-90 and the light trip again. It doesnt seem like that is much of a difference in tire size. I am running the stock 180/65/16 on back. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

The only tire that will work for 2014 or 2014 with ABS and linked brakes is the Dunlop due to its lower sidewall. A 120/70/21 on works if you do a 17 or 18" rear wheel. Wheels is our business thus we had to figure this out right away. If doing a 21" front wheel and no rear the ONLY TIRE that will work is the Dunlop D408F 130/60/21. Period.

I have sold countless front 21" wheels for 2014 and 2015 bikes with ABS and linked brakes without issue with the Dunlop tire. Thus, as was stated above by Wanaryd is THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE THIS WORK WITH A 21" FRONT ONLY at least for now.

Please excuse me for an ignorant question, but I just dont know. I am going to order a 21/18 combo for my 2014 SGS at the end of the month. I have pretty crappy roads here in Fayetteville NC. What tire do you guys recommend for the front? I understand the rear needs to be a 180/55/18 but saw no mention of matching front tire. Lastly, and I am sure this is going to get me slammed but what brand of tire is the stickiest? I do not care how often I have to replace them. I just want to ensure that my passenger and I are the safest possible. Thank you very much.

The Avon Cobra or Metzeler ME880 will both work well and are both nice and sticky. These are both available in the sizes you need which are 120/70/21 and 180/55/18. When adding a rear wheel that is larger such as the 18x5.5 you are going to use you can do the 120/70/21 front tire whereas if you are doing a 21" front wheel only and keeping the stock rear (16x5 with 180/65/16) you need the lower profile Dunlop 130/60/21.

I know this stuff gets confusing so if you have any questions please feel free to call the shop or ask here.

^ just an update, I pulled the trigger on a 140/70-21 metzeler...for a 21x3.5"
did a 18x5.5" rear in a matching 180/55-18 out back, so keep them crossed for me.

I'll report back with how the ABS acts, what speeds, etc. and let everyone know.

if we can figure this out and you're willing to put the effort in make the/a front fender work w/this monster tire, I'm truly looking forward to the ride quality improvement.
having ran a 21" for years on 120's which were just "ok" this should be fantastic. plus, I think it looks really cool.

That 140 is nearly 2 inches taller than a 120/70 and less than .5 inches shorter than a 130/60-23. 1. You would need to run raked trees to use it safely. 2. You'd need a fender for a 23, otherwise your stock fender isn't going to look right with that huge tire. 3. There isn't a way to make the Reflex ABS system function properly with a tire or wheel that size, even with an 18" in the rear. You're most likely going to have issues.

HogPro is spot on. I used that Dunlop setup to ride to the Lone Star Rally from Central Texas and had no issues at all. The ride was great.

I truly appreciate this forum, thanks!

We have talked at length about the inability of this combo working with the ABS and the fender but it always helps for other wheels to chime in. These new ABS bikes require a lot more thought than the 13 and earlier models.

2014 SGS with ABS linked brakes. I just installed a 130/60/21 (Dunlop) that is mounted on a Ripper ano black wheel. Stock rear wheel/tire (13k miles on it and hardly any wear). ABS light is on. What do I do know? Is there a learn procedure to make this combination work?
