Clicked off 1000 miles today. MPG?

Shouldn't make any difference, the computer should correct for altitude.

Put on 400 miles this past weekend. Total just under 1,000 total as of this morning. A little over 39 MPG calculated by me at each fill up over the weekend and 40-41 calculated by the GPS. A mixture of riding. Some at 75, some at 65, some at 25. There were 3 short times where I wanted to see what it could do and got over 100. It maxed out at 108. Over 100, it was having a tough time getting any faster.
I am a big guy, over 300 lbs, and wear a helmet with horns, so there is more wind resistance for me than some other riders.

After my experience riding in the Knoxville area [from Michigan] I consistently got 6-7 miles per gallon more down there than ever before. Now wouldn't you think going up and down hills on and off the gas would net worse mileage?
I have come to the conclusion that either the sea level or maybe crappier gas is why it gets worse?
That said, my new ride gets between 35/42 the old got 40/44. I got 42 this weekend riding like an old man never getting on it or going over 60. Now I know, it will be the last time it sees 42 unless it gets better with mileage.
I would like to see altitudes where this supposed 46 MPG and so on mileage occurred. Mine wouldn't get 46 in Michigan on a bet and its air cooled so less drag on the motor let alone hauling 2 and gear.
