Default Locking Your Bike

I plan on traveling half way across Canada this summer.I've got a big investment here and wondered what is the best device out there to add extra security to my bike other than factory security system.

This is just my opinion but i would bring a thick cable lock or chain and always lock it to a pole or something that cant be broken off, or many people wheel the bike into their hotel room if its on the 1st floor.

No disrespect - but if someone wants to steal it, they will. I simply lock the forks, cover the bike and keep it properly insured.

I always use this http://www.harley-davidson.com/store...cord-46086-98a

and always park close to the room or have the hotel give the okay to park near main entrance where the front desk can keep an eye on it for me.

Seriously, If they want it bad enough they will get it. Rotor locks/chained up/alarms you name it they know away around. They steal cars and trucks in broad day light without even setting off alarms. Yes it would be a Day Ender to walk out find your prize possession stolen, I know it would be for me, so I know I keep it fully insured and documented ad-ons.
Make sure your policy covers your ad-ons/up grades.

I lock all the locks on the Bike, and don't leave anything on it the honest people could
pick up and walk away with. I also have good Insurance, more then most.

I have a heavy chain with a canvas wrap on it and a good heavy duty lock, if I travel and I'm concerned I chain my bike to one of my buddy's bikes, good for both of us...

What has always worked for me....a simple cover.

When you cover a bike peoples eyes tend to just pass over it versus the need and desire to look, touch and sit their kids on it.

I also think thieves look over it sometimes too.

I just installed the smart siren II on my scoot. Pretty cool, if ya ask me, should come from the factory, imo...

Disc locks are always good.

Covers are always good. If they can't see it, they'll likely walk away.

Good luck.
