Well I should have the final estimate from the adjuster this week. Looks like it will be around 10K in all new factory painted parts. My bike isn't in near as bad of shape as "upmaniac" above. Since I won't get a replacement bike Georgia says I'm entitled to Diminished value as it will be worth less when I sell it. However, that seems to be a subjective number.

I'm also waiting for the other guys ins (Progressive) to make me a settlement offer. I don't know what his limits are but I also have under insured motorist coverage that would
kick in if necessary. So far, the progressive folks have been helpful and quick to follow up but the proof will be in a written offer.

There's no question of contributory negligence as this kid was raised by some good parents. He stated to the police and the insurance that he was distracted and not paying attention. When he saw me it was too late.

 

I think a lawyers is needed in cases like this. A new low mileage bike hit like that will be worth a lot less. Plus you drive a wrecked bike. I'm glad you are ok. Not saying take them to the cleaners but get enough to cover a new bike.
