Default 2014 limited heated grip change

Has anybody changed the heated grips on their limited yet? I bought a set and the way the instructions read it sounds like there will be a hot wire loose somewhere? The replacement grips have external power leads while the oem grips get the power internally? Not sure I want a hot wire loose inside the bars or fairing. Any help would be appreciated.

Default Yes

There is a difference from the Limited heated grip and the off the shelf ones. The Limited grips a modeled after the SE heated grips, in that the wires do not come out the side like the off the shelf ones. The wires go through the middle of the grip. Even though they look identical to the off the shelf ones, they are in fact different. Furthermore, the SE version has never been in the book. The right grip is the same, the lift grip is different, they are also sold as separates. The price for the SE Slipstream heated left grip only is $344.95.. You are reading that correctly. They sell a wiring harness kit to tie in the off the shelf grips into the 14 Limited wiring. You will need that. The instructions are included. About $25.00.. If you would like to see the off the shelf Slipstream grips on the bike, without the front end put on, here is a pix from the threat
" Striped Naked & not Ashamed "
There is also a way to internally wire them, if you have the handlebars that can be internally wired. the stock bars can not. The slot under the controls is not cut in & the tubing is to thin to cut a slot your self & be safe. The bars take a lot of stress.

I installed all the slipstream parts on my Limited except the grip's. The stock heated grips work so well I did not want to tempt fate. Now that I know the cost and hassle, I am happy as can be with my stock heated grips. I really appreciate the information.

I also added the slipstream gear, with exception of grips.

I HATE the stock rubber grips... but for that kind of jack, I may wait until they stop working, and just not have heated any longer.

What a crock of **** charging that much for a damn grip....

My stock grips work when they feel like it, I've already had the dealer replace them once and they still intermittently go on and off...
