The service manager had never heard of this, I showed him how to reprogram and flash based on your original post (BTW, thanks).
He had it done in just a few minutes and commented "I didn't even know this could be done".

I have to figure out if this is a physical wiring problem from the Deutsch to the system or if the reprogram had a problem.

With my luck (since getting the 14 Ultra) it's a wiring problem.

Any other advice, I'm all ears.

HO,
I 'm headed from Ohio to Florida in a few weeks, somewhat related (trying to get the XM working for the trip), some of the information about riding in Va says "helmet reflectorization required".
Do you know exactly what's needed for reflectorization?

Never heard of "helmet reflectorization required". All I wear is a HJC 3/4 helmet and it doesn't have any reflectors on it.

Here is the helmet law in Virginia.

§ 46.2-910. Motorcyclist to wear helmets, etc.; certain sales prohibited; penalty.

A. Every person operating a motorcycle shall wear a face shield, safety glasses or goggles, or have his motorcycle equipped with safety glass or a windshield at all times while operating the vehicle, and operators and any passengers thereon shall wear protective helmets. Operators and passengers riding on motorcycles with wheels of eight inches or less in diameter or in three-wheeled motorcycles which have nonremovable roofs, windshields and enclosed bodies shall not be required to wear protective helmets. The windshields, face shields, glasses or goggles, and protective helmets required by this section shall meet or exceed the standards and specifications of the Snell Memorial Foundation, the American National Standards Institute, Inc., or the federal Department of Transportation. Failure to wear a face shield, safety glasses or goggles, or protective helmets shall not constitute negligence per se in any civil proceeding. The provisions of this section requiring the wearing of protective helmets shall not apply to operators of or passengers on motorcycles being operated (i) as part of an organized parade authorized by the Department of Transportation or the locality in which the parade is being conducted and escorted, accompanied, or participated in by law-enforcement officers of the jurisdiction wherein the parade is held and (ii) at speeds of no more than fifteen miles per hour.

No motorcycle operator shall use any face shield, safety glasses or goggles, or have his motorcycle equipped with safety glass or a windshield unless of a type either (i) approved by the Superintendent prior to July 1, 1996, or (ii) that meets or exceeds the standards and specifications of the Snell Memorial Foundation, the American National Standards Institute, Inc., or the federal Department of Transportation and is marked in accordance with such standards.

B. It shall be unlawful to sell or offer for sale, for highway use in Virginia, any protective helmet that fails to meet or exceed any standard as provided in the foregoing provisions of this section. Any violation of this subsection shall constitute a Class 4 misdemeanor.

My mistake, it's West Virginia according to the H.O.G.2014 Tour Book, thank you though.

Thanks for the Va laws.

Found the right audio problem, operator error, all fixed.

Thanks to hojones for all the information on this topic. I took my 2014 Ultra (4.3 radio), the HD jumper harness and a printout of this thread to the nearest dealer today for the install and radio reflash. Everything works as described. The tech said he was reading the printout and learning as he was going.
There was only two problems:
1) I found that he cabled directly into my Garmin 660 instead into the Garmin power harness, so I will have to change that.
2) two hours labor at $95.00 an hour OUCH!!

Now that I have my 660 talking through the speakers I can look at the Gamin 590.

Thanks again to hojones

why would anyone add a nav unit to the already excellent nav on the 6.5's. Seems silly to me. JMO.

I personally purchased my 2014 FLHTK for all the upgrades and statements made by my dealer and the MC. The ability to be able to accept calls and have a quality navigation system that I didn't have to take off the bike nightly at the hotel on my trips was a huge selling point. I feel like the MC fell way short on their promise of a premium navigation system. The map is completely outdated being a 2012 map and no update currently available. More than 75% of the time I get a warning telling me that my route has incomplete data. I understand why so many people are wanting to add a Garmin unit, as I now am one as well, I loved the one on my 2010 FLHTK it was easy to use and always got me where I needed to go.
I think we all should be sure to let the MC know where they fell short on their navigation system and what we require as an update to fix the problems. They should at the very least make some effort to get this corrected and provide us at no cost an updated map to get us where we need to go.

The 6.5 is optional on the Ultra, standard on the Limited. In Canada it is a $995.00 option on the Ultra. I purposely bought my Ultra without the HD 6.5 GPS. I can move my Garmin GPS from car to bike to truck. The built in system doesn't even begin to compare to my Garmin 660. Just my experience so far
