To anybody that has installed their plasma rods in the gap between the frame and the saddlebags using the method described herein...

Have you had any trouble with the saddlbags rubbing against the plasma rods?

I'd like to mount a set of plasma rods like others have done in this and other posts, but after doing a bit of measurements, it looks to me like the saddlebags would sit against the plasma rods and possibly rub the paint off them?

According to CD, the plasma rods are .3" wide which is 9.6/32" and using my overly scientific method of measuring the gap between the frame and saddlebags (sticking a pencil in there to determine the opening's width), I measure that at its smallest point to be 10/32", so there's about a RCH remaining gap, which I think, with the bouncing of the bike, would have the saddlebags rubbing against the plasma rods, no?

I could still go with the typical adhesive mount to the plastic rear flange, but I'd prefer to do the cleaner install as was done in this post, if possible.

Thanks!

I actually have a piece of this. I used two small pieces of it around the base of my gas tank where the seat was rubbing to prevent the seat from wearing the paint away.

Is there any interest if I start making these brackets again?

If you offered them for a 2011 Street Glide, I would happily pay you in advance.

Thanks

No worries.

I seem to recall I was going to send you a paper template to fabricate a set for earlier model years. I may be able to do that for you this spring, if you're still interested.

Thanks
