Scraped the bottom but not where expected.
2014 Ultra Limited, stock height. During a left hand lean and turn, I felt something scrape but it wasn’t my floorboard or highway peg. When I got home, I inspected the undercarriage to see which part kissed the asphalt. The floorboard was pristine.
It was the heat shield, on the left side elbow from the crossover to the left side exhaust. I didn’t run over anything, it was a clean road scrape. Has anyone else experienced this? I’d hate for this to be the first part to hit ground on a lean, instead of a part that has some give.
Crossover elbow heat shield.
Photo taken from the garage floor, looking straight up at the heat shield.

I hadn't thought of that. I should add that this pic was taken just this morning. The scrape happened a few weeks ago. I don't know how quickly it would rust up, or if it truly an older scrape, yet a scrape it is. I haven't found any indications of the bike scraping anywhere else, though. Either way, I'll try and polish it out while winterizing it. I'll have it up on a stand, by next weekend.

It has nothing to do with the oil filter relocation. The crossovers are stock but with dealer-installed slip-ons. Although the slip-ons are straight and level, the crossover does look to be a bit low. Does the gap between it and the frame look too large? It does to my eyes. And it’s hard to tell because it’s on the jiffy stand, but the elbow does look a bit low.

Take a picture farther back from the rear down low looking up the side to see what sticks out and would scrape first.
No doubt your pipe has been scraped, but like others have said it looks rather old. and depending on your climate a pipe scrape may not rust quickly. Infact I have a few scratches and scrapes on my pipe that have went years without rusting.
Does your jiffy stand show any scrapes on the forward edge (when deployed) ? I think your jiffy stand may have not been stowed all the way and scraped, and the scrape on your pipe is from a different event. To me with the scrape on the heat shield and the actual pipe it looks like it would be from getting close to a curb, loading on a trailer, or going up/down a curb to cause that since that bend in the pipe is lot but pretty close to the center of the bike.

That's what it looks like to me too. Who put that oil filter there, because it looks like they moved crossover pipe down to make room. Pipe is not level and I think it should be? If so, that filter will be in the way I bet. Heat shield looks crooked also, another sign maybe.
