Default 60K Mile M8

I know people have already ran right past the 100K mark on their bikes with few issues. Just trying to get a consensus and maybe some insight.

I'm currently bike shopping to replace my 15 Road Glide. I’ve gone back and forth on bat vs shark and have decided I’m fine with either, just shopping the best deal.

I’ve ran across a 2019 Street Glide Special in that dark Denim Red color and black trim, wheels, guards etc.. bike looks stock other than seat and maybe audio upgrades. It’s got the 114ci power plant. Taken in on trade at an Indian dealer and looks to be very well kept, and trusted with 60K miles on it.

What should I be looking for specifically to ensure it’s healthy and I’m not buying a bomb? I’ll have compression and leak down test done for sure also.

If it has had good maintenance you should have nothing to worry about. Am just a few hundred shy of the 60k mile mark on my 114 and would have no worries taking it across the country and back.

62,000 on my FLHP uses about about 16oz oil at 5000miles, about 8oz of transmission oil transfer into primary at 10,000 miles. stock engine with cvo mufflers. I get about 50 MPG You will be happy with a new bike. and you should have no transfer with the transmission

For what it's worth, my 2020 CVO Road Glide has over 186,000 miles and has been great. The few things it's needed outside of normal maintenance:

1. New front compression release at 140,000.
2. Stator started to go at 170,000, replaced that and the voltage regulator.
3. Each O2 sensor has been replaced once.
4. General cam chest service at 150,000.
5. New knock sensors at 180,000.

Aside from that, the bike has never left me stranded or needed any kind of work from something that made it unrideable. 17 Iron Butt rides with this bike, and lots of miles from sub-freezing temps to triple digits. Most would even say I stretch my oil change intervals out too far, as well.

Will everyone have this kind of luck? Probably not. But at 60k I don't think anything would be on the verge of exploding any time soon. However, I would check that the oil pump has been updated. That occurred in late 2019.

Because changing oil and brake fluid pro longs the life of volt reg and sensors.

Bikes with 60k can sit a long time before being sold, since so many low mileage bikes out there. When you go to sell it, it will be about worthless. Which is fine, you are buying to ride it.

In general, its not the engine that gets ya. Well maybe when the crank went at 70k on my TC, its all the other stuff.

I would ask if timing chaing tensioners have been replaced. I don't know about M8s about its getting time to do it for a TC.

^^^^^^^^ That is the post sentence winner of the day. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Can you explain how changing the oil & brake fluid prolongs the life of the voltage regulator and sensors when thoes fluids do not come in contact with those items??

Try not to post while drinking....................

Have you had to replace a final drive belt yet?
Also how did the cam chain tensioners look at 150k miles?

The final drive belt has been replaced once around the 110,000 mark. It could have stayed on longer but it was one of those "while we're in there" type of things. The teeth looked surprisingly good. Rear drive sprocket changed a few weeks ago. It was pretty beat up but that's not something you'd expect to last forever with road debris and such. Expecting the belt and sprocket to last forever is like expecting tires to last forever, so I didn't include those in the list above.

My cam tensioner didn't look bad. In fact I may be able to find a picture of it.
