last bike was a 2019 SGS I bought new in Jan 2020 for 5k off MSRP.

Personally I think many things around 50k should be considered for change, when the time is right,
50k miles for some is 10 years. For others, 50K miles is two years. From experience, mileage is less important than time for most rubber items.

Last yr… bought used from a private party for well under book. Bought 4 touring bikes in the last 10yrs.

just made an offer on a low mile 2016 today. Twin cam bike with good add ons. If the money works out I’ll be doing a fly & ride from the Chicago area back to Texas. Makes this thread fairly moot… I’d still take a late twin cam with a few of the right upgrades over an early M8. Especially one with 15K miles vs 60K, for less money.

That is what I did too. Figuring it takes harley a awhile to get it right. Though you probably want to change the water pump out if it hasn't been changed, I would definitely go for low miles.

I realize people love the M8. Aside from sound, transfer, oil pumps, and lifters.

I am on my fourth M8 but I didn't ride more than 25000 miles with them without an issue, hope my new 2024 Road KIng special will last as long as my last evo (80000 miles) because I think it will be my last new Harley...

got an oil/air cooled bike in the works. No wet heads. Street Glide Special with a lot of good add-ons. A baby ultra if you will…

What sort of issues did you have?
Currently have 60k miles on my 2021 M8, has run flawlessly.

Lots of people have gone over 100,000 flawless miles. How the guy that is the king miler that has done 100,000 miles in 100 days…and kept going. He had service done every 10K.

Op…if you really want that bike, and can get a good deal on it, take it for a good test ride. With the motor cold, start it and look for oil smoke. Once warmed up on the test ride, Redline the motor, do hard starts, and hard breaking. Do slam shifts, and do rev matching clutch less up shifts. Then find a straightaway and at a decent speed take your hands off the bars slightly at different speeds, and make sure it doesn’t wobble. On hard accelerations look for smoke. Smell the oil and tranny fluid for off burnt smells. Check drive belt for uneven wear, and cracking, check tires for less than 4 year date code, check for leaks. Listen for unusual sounds when running and idling,

d

I expressed myself badly, I had no problem and fortunately because I have only traveled 25,000 miles with two of them and 10,000 with the third, I hope the last one will last me a long time...
