On my 08 Road King, after the 1000 mile check, which I did, I used the same derby cover gasket for the rest of the time I owned the machine. That was 15 years and 108,000+ miles. Never any leak.

My riding is pretty damn mild. 50-150 mile trips, typically 2-3.5k rpm. Im not beating the bike although once in a while i redline it getting on the interstate or something. I just kind of assumed the low transmission fluid and the fact the bike was built in December of 2018 was the tell tale sign of sumping. I havent checked the primary because i do t want to buy seals and f@‘k with it in my garage….
It might be worth contacting the dealer you bought it from and see if there is any help available to you.
Have seen things like this go both ways. Just don't start out being a ***** LOL

little tip...when the T27 derby cover bolts become a little sloppier than they once were, I just buy a new set, but have used a small square of bedsheet thin material to cover the TORX bit and the fit will once again be tighter than a cheap prom date

Thanks everyone for the good information. I think I’ll go ahead and check the primary fluid myself since it sounds simple. Another question does the primary fluid need to be completely changed since its been mixed (most likely) with trans fluid? The only reason I ask is I might pull of some fluid from the primary and fill the trans up enough to get the bike to the shop. It would save me trailering it. Not a big deal just curious what you think.

Your issue sounds like oil migration from the transmission to the primary.

Check to see if the primary vent has been installed.
i will check that but would this issue also cause oil to come out of the transmission cavity vent? I was thinking maybe the low level caused frothing with lead to the tube leaking but does that sound logical?

This sounds like a reasonable idea to get the bike to a shop.
Don't think I'd reuse the fluid, just get the primary down to a reasonable level.
Then add new fluid to trans. I don't think you would use a quart if that.

You claim to have 2500mi since the last oil change. At this point I’d just do a fresh 3-hole (20w50 in the engine, Formula+ in the primary, and gear oil in the trans) and call it a day.

i plan on doing that but I was talking about just getting it to my mechanic. I’m going to go ahead and have him do the primary vent and I’m gonna buy the fat clutch bar as well since they're both pretty cheap parts. I hTe having this issue and want to try and get it resolved. I really like the bike.
