2023 Flhtp. No mods.
Constantly moving my foot around and off the board.
What should I do? It is affecting my enjoyment of this bike.
I have some ideas but I would like to hear what others have done.
Thanks for any ideas.
Get a full exhaust that moves the cat back or doesn't have one. If you are blacked out then get ceramic. Keeping the heat in the pipes helps keep heat off you with the added benefit of moving the exhaust flow quicker which is good. Remap to stage 1 download will help as more fuel cools.( no cat) Someone had a good idea also, I did put 3/4" spacers on my boards for a different reason but it does keep your legs out into the wind a bit more.

Default Heat from Catalytic Convertor

00fxd, take off the right muffler, get a 12" long, 3/8" drill bit at Home Depot and drill away. add the "spacers" you can buy on Amazon for about $25. You do NOT need to retune!! done this to at least four bikes, works fine, enjoy. CSM-H

I am also considering exhaust heat wrapping the Cat area. Any experiences with this approach anyone?

Believe it or not, these help, I've put them on my last 3 bikes, current bike included. I rode in 100 degrees over this past weekend, it still sucked, but these make it bearable, I used to burn the heck out of my right inner thigh.

I have done many things to get my bike to run cooler and while it does run cooler per my infrared heat gun,it's still pretty warm on the right side. I have a 1" tank lift,I installed an oil cooler into my left side lower fairing,I installed a remote oil filter that is located under the left passenger floorboard, installed a Fuel Moto jack pot header with screamin eagle street cannons , got it dyno tuned and run a powervision with 18mm wide band sensors with a target tune box. The only thing left is to maybe run some Love Jugs or a Jim's force flow fan. It does run about 30 degrees cooler than an air/oil cooled bike but still warm on the right side..

Thanks h7009. This is the approach that makes the most sense for my situation. I really want to leave this one as stock as possible, hence my preference for no ecm tuning etc. Btdt with modifying, shotguns, cams, wiescos, and all that - Shovel, Evos, Twin cam. Just a simple solution like this or wrapping the area with header wrap.. .Just wanna silently ride my bike without blistering my leg.

I do not know what "spacers" you are referring to. Drill bit extensions? Please advise.
