The MoCo calls it a Jiffy Stand in all the Factory Service Manuals...

I was just about to post my pic, but saw yours. This is exactly what I was referring to. Scary if you think about how much weight this supports. Thanks for your response.

It's not.
That's the position it's in before the bike leans down onto it, which will slip that tab deeply into the groove between the two tangs.
It's actually very strong and stable.

@Hulkss was spot on in his description of how it works.

Thank you!

After all these years, I never noticed it slipped into that groove. Simple things overlooked.

I wish I had this kick stand sensor on my RKS as I often start moving with this sucker unfolded. Thanks god they thought of that and allow this thing to fold when it touch the ground. Wonder if it would be possible to fit this to US model as I believe it is only non US model option.

Depending on how it works I don't see a reason why it couldn't be installed on pre CAN bus (BCM) bikes. The pin is on the ECM so if the signal is present the ECM may react to it.

On bikes with BCM it is an option switch that can be turned on and off even with HDI bikes that have jiffy stand sensors fitted.

My 2019 FLHTP has this sensor on it. My 2002 and my 1989 did not have this sensor. This can probably be added to your bike. Talk to you dealer.
