Hey thank you, Mr. Hattitude for your Insite, however the later models do have a MF date but I can not find one on this 2022 RK they just have bar codes, I'm looking for a Cystal ball perhaps that will be able to help me figure this out, because although a lot of good Brothers are trying to help with their opinions I'm still trying to find out why it such a Mystery FK. it would be much easier if Harley placed all the info on the tag. That way when researching everything that people are pointing out that's bad about the M8's. oil pumps failure etc, built on certain date, you'd know which direction you're going to go with. Like ripping out the bad and placing in the good, or buying a extended warranty through Harley and let them deal with it as your out riding being inconvenience, subject to delays on your touring. Thats why I ask,. also I know it's not a perfect World, however an once of prevention is worth a 100 pounds of cure..

You can still buy a extended warranty from other sources. Call Jim Palmer I'm sure he will be happy to take your money. Better yet save that money you would spend on a warranty and spend it on any needed repairs if they happen.

you don't worry about that, you just replace them when they need to be replaced .. it really is that simple

The manufacture build date on the down tube is not the engine manufacture date. If you call Harley or in some cases if you have a good dealer and provide the VIN, they will provide you with the engine manufacture date. Two of my softails, a 2018 and a 2020 have engine build dates months earlier than the bikes build date. In the case of the 2020 the engine had a build date of June 2019. Harley was able to give me the part number of the oil pump installed in that motor. The 2018's motor was built in October 2017. It had the first generation oil pump which I replaced with the updated Screaming Eagle pump. Build date does nor designate motor build date. Running updates, particularly in each new generation of motor are nothing new

Trying to help. Your bike is a 2022. You don't need to know what year your engine was actually built - it goes by Model Year.
They don't put 2017 Spec engines in 2022s... You have a 2022 Spec engine.

You have the newest oil pump and the primary vent to address trans oil transfer.
In my opinion, you don't need an extended warranty due to "M8 problems". Get an extended warranty for any other reason - your call.

70K on my 2017 - no issues. I did update the oil pump and install the primary vent years ago but never had a problem either before or after.

Did you buy it new....??

All bikes are required to have a Manufacturer's label on the frame with specific information... Unless it was a very recent change, just having a bar code does not substitute for the manufacturer's label information that required under fed law...

The label also has important info like GVWR and tire pressures that are supposed to be displayed on all vehicles.

The Manufacturer's label has bar codes on it too, but also has the other information.....

IMHO... If you don't have one with GVWR, tire pressures, tire sizes, and the manufacture date, I'd be more worried that you own a bike with the manufacture's label that's been changed/modified.... than the other issues you are worried about..

Here are a couple pics of the Manufacturer's label on my 2016 Ultra Classic... you can see it has bar codes, but also the federally required information..
