Hello all, I’ve been playing around with various mounts for the stock showa rear suspension / tourpack. Figured I would share some photos of various setups and ultimately with the Öhlins setup which I have on now.

I’ve read that the new models have an additional 1” of rear travel 3”
Is there clear information on how this was obtained? I don’t have an older model to compare to.

I’ll be going for a ride this afternoon and will give an update on ride comparison. However on the stock setup I did not adjust the preload for my weight only the compression / rebound per the manual. So Won’t exactly be a perfect comparison.

the entire swap is very easy and can be done in well under an hour once you’ve taken your time the first go around.

Stock Setup

eBay Mounts designed for ohlins. To make these work I swapped the shocks left to right to gain length on the lines.

Notice they are not symmetrical which is why I swapped left to right vs just rotating



Tour Pack fits fine. Disregard the junk seat I’m just testing what fits.

The above picture is our 21 SGS with HD Screamin Eagle / Ohlins with the stock brackets that come With the shocks. They easily clear both the bag lids and the detachable tour pack with ease.


Below are the KINGS. Pro-Action on our 22 CVO RG. These reservoir brackets are adjustable and it took a little playing around with them to find the magic position for clearance and best look. The shocks are fantastic!

 

HD makes a kit that relocates the OE resivior bracket to the outside of the saddle bag support bracket. This allows fitment for the quick detach hardware. Below is an image from the instructions.

 

Hopefully the kit will be available soon, so far the dealers can’t order it. Same goes for the tour pack to color match the white, apparently i have zero patience
