Default Headset 77147-98A or 77117-10?

Is the 77147-98A the same as Harley PN 77117-10? I'm needing to replace one of my headsets, and the headset that is needing replaced is a 77117-10. I'm not sure if its compatible with what I have. Thanks for any help.

Even though 77117-10 is showing as the replacement for 77147-98A, something is different between the two. What’s different? That I can’t tell you.

Thanks

Based on information I've read on this forum and from information in the instruction sheet, it looks like:

77147-98A - USA version

77156-98A - International version (kit comes with two headsets)

77117-10 - has better speakers and smaller microphone. Also comes with CD to update radio software. Update software is also available on the Harley-Davidson website.

Not sure what bike you are riding - I see an Ultra in your avitar.

If such is the case, any of those headsets will work. There are a number of folks her that get new headsets with their bikes and never use them. So go wireless.

Consider posting a "Wanted To Buy" for the headset. My guess is you will find a new one.

If your looking to buy, I have a couple new sets of the -10 headsets. Got them with new bikes and just put them in the corner.

Thanks for the information and reply. Still have the Ultra, thought about the wireless, but some of our group had them and they would need to be recharged after 8 to 10 hours. Very often we ride 12 to 14 hours a day. Also I like the simplicity of the plug in and go.

I'm not a wealthy person Red, but if the price is right I would be interested in buying one of your 10's.

Just picked up my first ever brand-spanking new Harley, a 120th Anniversary Edition Ultra Limited and was surprised to find that the single headset that was included with the bike was the PN 77147-98A vs the "better speakers and smaller microphone" 77117-10 version. When I searched https://www.harley-davidson.com/us/e...torcycle-parts the only headset that's available is the 77117-10. So the motor company (or the Dealer) has included the "inferior, obsolete and can no longer buy cuz it's not on the web site anymore," (which by the way are labeled with a 06/23 date) 77147-98A headset with a $35,000+ motorcycle. Makes you wonder what they are thinking. Continuing to manufacture and distribute a sub-par headset and making their diminishing owner base buy and pay for the better set seems a bit ridiculous. How much did the corporation save by doing that? $20? $50?

Red If you still have a set available I'm interested. How much??
