m8 starting cycle/sound on a tc103?
Hi all!
I was trying to gather information about the possibility to emulate the amazing starting sound/cycle of the m8 engine on the twin cam 103.
I really dig those 3-4 strokes that the m8 does prior to start-up.
Do you know if there's any possibility to use my power vision to recreate that?
(also because I feel like the twin cam is inconsistent when starting up, sometimes it does 1 and a half, sometimes 2...)
thanks for the replies!!!

It's funny that you posted this. That is one of the most annoying things to me about fuel injection. A well-tuned carb would start immediately with a pump shot, one compression stroke, as soon as the plugs fired. Interesting how times change and now people want something that cranks without starting!

I find that a bit odd myself. I would much prefer the engine fire in as few revolutions as possible. I had the same problem with the newer direct inject car engines. They tend to crank a bit before firing. The older port injection engines would fire much quicker and carbureted engines would fire almost instantly if tuned well.

I wish. My old Jeep sounds like a monkey getting raped in a tunnel ( or like my mom’s old Plymouth Volare wagon back in the 80’s but that was carbureted). Or, here’s one better if you’ve never heard a monkey getting raped in a tunnel:

The parts are still turning, just slower. I'm not so sure the oil pressure comes up in any fewer revolutions than it otherwise would; an oil pump is fixed displacement.
