The 2023 Road King FLHR Lives On As The FLHP
#631
One thing I’ve noticed on my 2024 FLHP. By appearance, with a bright flashlight, the brake pads look very metallic, copper color, than other recent Glides I’ve owned.
I mention this because the pads on my ’20, and ’22 Glides didn’t appear the same, and they didn't drag quite as audibly when rolling along into the neighborhood. I could hear my rear pads dragging when rolling in on my last two glides, but the front makes more noise on my new FLHP, than the ’20 Street Glide, or ’22 Road Glide Special. They made no noise at all from the front rolling along. When I jack the bike up and spin the wheels, there is more drag. Bike only has about 500 miles on it.
Maybe this is a performance improvement with the latest pads?

Good idea.
The part numbers are all the same on the pads and caliper assemblies on my 2024 FLHP, your 2023 FLHP, (and the 2022 FLTRXS I just sold).
I put the ’24 FLHP back on the stand to make note of exactly how far the front wheel will spin. It’s exactly one revolution, repeatedly, on a cold (ambient temp 65 degrees) bike.
I don’t know if this is acceptable or not. The front brakes audibly make more drag noise than my 2022, and 2020 Glides did, but I can’t say for sure that the front wheels would spin further. I think they did, but I never made note of exactly how far. I know they didn’t make as much dragging noise.
This bike has 500 miles on it, and I had hoped this would subside with some break-in miles.
I’ll call the dealer and see what they say. I was going to do the 1000 miles service myself in 500 miles. They are an hour and twenty minutes away. Based on what they tell me over the phone, I may just let them do the first service and have a look, all at the same time. Spring time has arrived in earnest here in central NC so I am sure they will be getting busy.

My 2022 FLHXS ST front brakes made noise every time I came to a stop even when just using the rear brake. They dragged during slow speed maneuvers also. I took it back to the dealer to make sure the front brakes were not linked to the rear brake under 20-25 mph. The response was ALL GOOD. Sold the bike and purchased current 21 FLH and no issues at all. Both bikes equipped with RDRS.
I rode to Redneck BBQ Lab in MacGee’s Crossroads a little west of you in NC for lunch today, and even after negotiating stop and go through two traffic lights across the I-40 overpass, and two right turns into the parking lot, then parking, I could still touch the front rotor. Just for a second, but it wasn’t blistering hot.

In the meantime-
The Harley Davidson Motor Company says this part will NOT fit my motorcycle. 596000222
They have two versions of this identical part. This one is $117, the other is $232.
I chose door #1. This is the second or third thing I’ve installed this week that they said wouldn’t fit my bike.
I take that as somewhat of a dare. I know I said there’d be no bling on this bike. That is not entirely accurate.
