Hulkss, I'm looking at one of these new fangled police bikes myself. It took me a few days to read this thread but thanks for sharing the info sir, and everyone else too.

Right now it's just a wish list thing but could become a real deal soon. I'm a fixed fairing guy.

I had a Batwing, however, the bar height I like basically makes the fairing useless with my hands well above it. The RoadKing windshield does a better job in the wind in my experience, but, you need to have fork fangs installed. In hot weather, I want my hands in the wind to blow up the sleeves and out the vents of my Aerostich riding suit. In cold weather, I use gauntlet gloves with the heated grips on. All three police model bikes are good choices based on your preference.

The only explanation I got was if you special order a Police Bike for your self (Personal use not Duty assignment) it comes in as a “demo” which technically could be bought by anyone. So after the 90 days, if no one buys it, it’s yours. Now, most dealers I came across were not going to order the bike and then put it up for sale for 90 days, they were going to hold it in the back or figure out a way for me to get on it sooner. One (of the larger) dealer observed a 60 day hold as in their experience nothing bad ever happened letting them go after 60.
But what doesn’t make sense to me is the dealers who order these bikes in regular quantities, typically have them on their showroom floor right away. So if i went to buy one, would they have to hold it for 60 or 90 days? Or is it different if it comes in on a general order and not a personal special order….Speculating that they would have to hold it as I’ve noticed not all the 2024 police bikes i have seen this year are on the dealer websites.

If your not in a hurry - I would wait one year until 2025 - It’s *possible* (pure speculation here) the 117 makes it’s way into the police bikes next year *if* in fact this is the last year for the 114. That being said you would have to be okay with water cooled (not sure who wouldn’t want that) and (potentially) VVT (the 2024 117 does not have VVT). All that being said, I bought a 2023 a few months ago and am loving it.

2023 FLHTP in Luxury Blue. As it sat at the dealer with 10 miles on it. I now have the police seat on it and a stage 2.

Dealer close to me orders them regularly and told me they don’t hold them 90 days. They had just gotten one in and had it in the shop changing a few things for the customer. Then they called me two weeks later to say he backed out of buying it and asked if I was interested in it.

Nice - Did you buy it?
And that was kind of what I gathered too - If the dealer ordered it as part of a "lot" and it's on the showroom floor, it can (or does) go out the door. A personal/one-off order seems to be treated differently.

This whole thread sure makes me want to order an '04 FLHP, but just the process of having to deal with my local dealer makes me sick to think about. If they can set their own prices, then I already know what it will be, STRATOSPHERIC!!! Plus, since I am now officially a "seasoned" citizen and still in love/lust with my '03 100th Anniversary Road King Classic with matching factory sidecar, I'll probably just ride vicariously thru Hulkss and the others that are purchasing new FLHP's. They sure are purdy though!!!

Any idea what the dealer close to you was asking for it? It'd be interesting to have a comparable number to have should I decide to go to my local dealer & see what they'd want to order one...
