The 2023 Road King FLHR Lives On As The FLHP

I bought a piece of "trim" for the air cleaner. Some of the available designs are pretty lame and held on only with Velcro. I suggest avoiding those. Look at the instruction sheets. The better trim pieces are mechanically attached (item 3 is held on by screw A). In this design the small round emblem comes off with two screws to provide access to the main center screw.
The stock trim piece said 114 and Police. I'd rather let people wonder what they are looking at.

Found some nice amber sealed beam bulbs for the Auxiliary Lamp housings. Sealed beams virtually never get moisture in them. These are amber to better match the turn signals, not yellow fog lamps.
Should be good for daytime visibility. Hopefully drivers associate amber with caution.

As I posted below, the stock auxiliary lamps on a Road King are not LED, they use Halogen Incandescent bulbs. Installing 35 watt sealed beam bulbs is not an issue.
The stock bulb can be removed from the reflector and replaced, as such, the lamp is not hermetically sealed like a sealed beam bulb and can get moisture and condensation inside.

These lamps are on the P&A circuit which is fused at 20 amps. It's possible that the Body Control Module (BCM) on other (non-Road King) models would issue a fault for the 3 amp load, but I doubt it.

The amber sealed beams are 35 watt. That would be a 3 amp load. A 21 AWG wire is plenty large enough for three amps. I don't think I've ever seen a wire that small going to a lamp on a harley.

Mine won't be 99% stock, however, to most people, it will look like it. My last two Harley's were a FLHXS 2014 Street Glide Special, Twin Cam 103 and a FLSTC 2019 Heritage Softail Classic, Milwaukee Eight 114. The FLHP 2023 Road King Police, for me, will be the best from each of them.

I'm still collecting gear for this bike. I found a perfect fitting on Amazon for the Police Style Tour Pack that I posted about earlier. I stuffed it with a couple of pillows and it measured 18" x 14" x 9", as stated in the description for the 17" x 13" x 8" bag. It's a medium weight bag that should hold up ok if not abused. Interior volume works out to 37 liters.
