IE This was NOT my experience with them, quite the opposites in fact.

Reviving this thread once again…I finally bit the bullet and ordered the reduced reach 11 inch FBIs and they are supposed to be here Thursday. I stopped by my local the other day and picked up a set of the HD poly bushings, but I didn’t even think about replacing the damn riser top clamp. Is this a necessity ? I checked the HD website and they don’t list anything for my Street Glide. I’d really like to get these bars installed this weekend, but I don’t see any way of getting my hands on a top clamp that quick unless I can find one at one of the dealerships around here…and there is a J&P cycles in Pigeon Forge, which is about an hour away (I would normally never consider going to Pigeon Forge the weekend before Christmas, I’d rather punch myself in the face repeatedly). Did you all replace your clamps ?

Unless your clamp is damaged, just reuse it.

It isn’t damaged , I’ve just read (I think in the service manual) that it should be replaced if it is removed, although I didn’t do it when I installed the last set of bars. Thanks for the reply.

I didn’t replace my top clamp when i had the FBI 11” reduced reach bars install - i only replaced the bushings - I think you have what you need.

For me bolts that came with polyurethane bushings were too short, they were only engaging few threads, for peace of mind went with aftermarket bolts, which engaged almost whole riser.

Sound logic getting longer bolts - good choice - I had a local shop install mine, so they would have grabbed new/longer bolts as needed - can’t wait to hear how TNFatboy likes the FBI bars

I was talking about the bolts for the top clamp, the socket head cap screws…5/16-18x 1.25 I think. But if the bolts that come in the bushing kit are too short I can get some of those too. Do you happen to know the size (mine are out in my shed so if you don’t I’ll try to remember to grab one in the morning when I leave for work).
Thanks

Sorry, don’t remember at all
Found my picture of bolts from kit inside the clamp
