Default NaviExtras NA-MY2020 Map Update

Has anybody upgraded to this? Last time I bought the upgrade was in October of 2016. The maps themselves I believe are Q3 2014. What date is the actual maps in MY 2020? I thinking of upgrading again. Thanks.

I went ahead & bought & installed the upgrade. The last maps were September 2014. Now, on this upgrade, it just says NA 2020. Harley fixes it so now you don't know just how old your "current" set of maps really are. SMFH.

Did it in April 2020 and the maps that were installed were 2018 Q2. I saw it when monitoring the download process, which lists the files it is downloading.

Thanks. That's probably the version I just down loaded then. Which is almost 4 years newer than what I had.

They did that years ago hidden in a software update, people were complaining that they were buying or getting on their new bikes "new" 2 year old maps so HD changed the dates. In their (and all map updates) defense though I'm guessing it's very difficult for these mapping companies to give you 2020 maps in 2020. My maps on my '14 are 2012 maps so I'm thinking of updating them as this will be my last Harley, I'll get 2018 maps which is fine with me.

If you want to know when the maps were created you can look in the Navisync\content folder on your computer's hard drive, assuming that you copied it there from your map update USB stick. If you didn't then you can browse to that folder on the map update USB stick that you created in NaviSync. There is a file named dbver.pinfo which is a text file containing the information you need. If you are running Windows just open the file with Notepad., and exit without saving when you have finished looking at it. The last time I updated my maps the contents of that file was;
HDNAPREM;HMNA2016Q2;20161128. The maps display is MY2018 but as you can see in the file it was created Nov 28, 2016. For November to be in Q2, I guess they name the year's quarters based on when their sales year begins.

So just curious if I buy the updated maps. Can I do more then one bike. Or is it set to a vin or something?

Not 100% sure but 90% they are somehow "coded" to one bike only. I don't remember the exact procedure but I think you have insert a USB stick into the bike first, can't remember exactly but something like that. Otherwise you'd have people sharing /selling the maps to others.
