Default Axle nut sizes

2016 Street Glide Special

The service manual has torque values but no mention of the nut sizes. Can anybody help me out with this? Front & rear, please.

Thank you

Assuming you are looking for the wrench size...

Rear axle nut requires a 36mm wrench/socket (you`ll need two).

Some may say 1-7/16" fits, but it is a bit too loose, hell, you would be better off using an adjustable wrench...

Front axle requires a 15/16" wrench/socket.

I bought an offset extension too for that rear axle nut, a PIA to get to. I don't have a lift and was doing it from the ground, there may be an easier way to do it. Also think (it was a couple of years ago) I took one (maybe both) of the saddle bags off. Good luck

Looks like 12 point vs 6 point. It is a 6 point nut, correct?

Yes, it is a 6-point nut. I chose the 12-point because that allowed me more flexibility when tightening the nut. Then, when using a torque wrench, I could reposition and get another bite on the nut in smaller increments than I would be able to get with the 6-point wrench, especially since I didn't remove the mufflers. I hope that makes sense.
