If your bike is running good you should never do anything before a trip, simply not a good idea. If you are running quality gas and are not having issues then it's really unneeded IMHO.

Use top tier fuel. It's "supposed" to contain additives that keep fuel injectors clean.

I use Techron in my Vette, usually a container every oil change. Every so often I'll throw some in the bike, no set schedule just every once in awhile and never had any issues...

I use sea foam for winter storage, and it is said to have cleaning agents as well. So when I burn off my first tank of fuel of the year, it gets a “treatment”.

That being said, I agree with the above post to not try anything new before a trip.

I do not use any additives, except for winter storage.

You mean like change fluids, check tire pressures, check bolts and nuts, fix any oil leaks, check lights, check brake pads and hoses, check drive belt, check battery voltage, check wheel bearings.

Is this what you mean? Your nuts. There are tons of things to do and check before a trip.

No, you should not change fluids right before a trip, but you should absolutely check them prior tho. If you are due for a change prior to the trip you should do them several weeks before hand and get miles under you before the trip. The rest of your list is checks, all of which should be done, the majority of which are part of your routine maintenance.
