I have a 2014 Road King, and don't think my horn is all that loud.
I guess "loud" is relative. Someone on here previously posted in another thread that according to someone at HD, the 13 and earlier side mount horns were 80 db. On another site, I read that if 0db is a whisper, 10 db is ten times louder. 20 db is 10 ten times louder than 10 db, or 100 times louder than 0 db. I also read that 90 db is ten times louder than 80 db. So (and I'm totally guessing) 5 db louder than 80 would be 5 times louder?
I suppose that might be true, but simply based on my 98 Sporty horn 5 times almost nothing is still not great, more like barely adequate. Before I changed the horn, I had a relative stand outside the garage and pressed the horn button. He laughed and said "Really?" With the new horn he said, "I heard that!" and said to him it sounded much better, not some kind of sad joke.

If I want the pants crapping throw your cell phone up in the air look of shock I saw on a teenage cagers face once, I would need dual air horns like what the pickup truck had. That however would not be quick simple or expensive. It still might be worth it though, I'm going to try this new electric horn for awhile and see if it will at least be heard over normal traffic noise. I did a lot of riding yesterday out in the country roads of Tenn but didn't have any occasion to need the horn. (which is a good thing) I didn't want to ride to Knoxville just to have an occasion to test it out.
