I just installed my freshly powder coated bars on my 16 Streetglide and now by throttle is sticking. I am pretty sure the issue is the added diameter of the bars due to the powder coating. Looking for a remedy. I am thinking of sanding the area under the grip. Anyone experienced with sanding powder coating? What grit paper do you recommend for the final finish under the grip?

 

I've had that issue before with powder coated bars and I removed some of the powdercoat overspray under the throttle using some brown scotchbrite (and maybe some sandpaper - I can't remember).
I wrapped the scotchbrite around the bar end like a grip and twisted back and forth like you would with the throttle. Checked fit frequently until the grip would spin with no resistance.

 

Thats what it takes always lightly sand down the surface or scape it like mentioned in the last post scotchbrite pads work well to

 

Fixed. I had to remove all the powder and then put a very thin film of lube. Now works like it use to.
