Default 2015 FLHTK getting new paint

Hello fellow Rushers!
I have had my 2015 FLHTK for 9 months now and it has been put away for the winter...well kinda. I decided after a few months that I really didn't like the factory two tone paint job. I was looking for a new color most of the summer and a friends Jeep caught my eye. I loved the grey and black look and decided to paint my bike this winter Chrysler Anvil Grey. I know the MOCO offers Gunship now but I really like the Anvil. Over the last month I have completely disassembled the bike and have sanded down all 14 painted parts. Over the weekend I primed it with epoxy primer and I will be painting it this weekend...I am using KemFx base coat and Urekem Polyurethane clear. Here is a link to that paint kit https://shop.thecoatingstore.com/Chr...productId=1981
Here is a before pic and I will post some after pics in a few days!

That looks like a lot of time consuming work. Maybe when I'm retired I would attempt that, but not now. I admire your determination. Keep us posted!

Curious as to why you primered everything. When sanded properly, wouldn't the new paint stick to the old paint? or is it due to changing to lighter color?

Hey I think your bike looks great with stock colors. I think the gray is going to look totally bad *** though..looking forward to seeing it.

I believe it is used to seal the new paint from reacting to the paint underneath.

Very fortunate to have the confidence and skill to paint your own bike. Gives you a lot of options that most don't have unless they fork out a lot of money.

Good luck with the project. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
