i was rolling down hey 20 west of Pecos TX and a huge pole fell off the truck a few cars ahead of me. I saw all the cars in front of me driving crazy trying to avoid it but I didn’t see what it was until the car in front of swerved left. When I finally realized what it was I was still doing about 80 and I had to slam on the brakes, I didn’t have time to hit the rear brakes just the fronts. Anti lock brakes kicked in and when I realized I was definitely going to hit this thing I swerved left also trying to miss it. The real problem was that the pole was blocking both lanes of traffic at a 90 degree angle to the flow of traffic.

I just did the best I could with my reflexes and 20 years of riding experience. I hit the pole and flew at least 50ft or I should say rolled and flew. The bike landed about 6 ft from me when I stopped. I was conscious and alive but really banged up. I only had a helmet T-shirt and jeans with some lowtop shoes. It was quite the ride to say the least.

im just glad it wasn’t at night I wouldn’t have seen it until it was probably too late. So stay super alert out there and if anything maybe increase your follow distance from the car in front of you. That’s the only thing that I think I could have changed.

Damn! Go buy a lottery ticket cause you are lucky as hell. Seriously, glad you weren’t hurt more than you were. Best wishes for a fast recovery.

P.s. Houston has some of the worst highways with all kinds of crap in the road. My biggest fear was a 16’ aluminum ladder, which I often saw. You just replaced that fear...lol.

Please tell us the cops found the lazy turd that didn’t secure his load. And please tell us you’re gonna sue him.
