Default can't close my left grip housing

I recently purchased AIR-96-BOSS for my 2012 Sportster 1200 custom , the left side (clutch) housing will not close, flush. Did I get the right ones? any suggestions?

if you're trying to install the grip inside the housing turn it until it closes all the way...the grips are different top an bottom but I don't remember which goes up or down.

I had that issue when changing grips on my 2018 RGU. It turned out that the grip was pushed in too far. I pulled the grip back about 1/8 inch and everything went back together.
