Need Advice - Steering Head Bearing Lubrication
#11
I am not convinced either that a perfectly good motorcycle needs to be disassembled for lubrication maintenance at 25000 miles esp if the fall away adjustment has been kept in check. The adjustment is critical for long bearing life.
Part of every maintenance interval check should be the steering fall away.
The fall away adjustment is a piece of cake on the Rushmore.
The no drain plugs for the fork oil is another where you have to disassemble a perfectly good motorcycle to do normal maintenance...but that should be changed so have at it

I had a front end problem with an XLCH ( way back when I was a lot tougher and could kick it ) ... got into it and found the lower neck bearing race was flat spotted real bad ... It had almost 40,000 miles on it at the time ... New bearings and races and it was good as new ... wish I still had that scooter :>)
