When I swapped out to the new fuelmoto headpipe, the old gasket kinda bonded between the old headpipe and crossover.

I opened up the old clamp to the max, took a large tapered socket and opened up the crossover a bit, boom, new gasket everything went together like duckbutter.

When I pit my new head pipe on I rented the pipe expander. I loosened the clamp as much as possible and left it on the pipe as I used the pipe expander, worked without a problem.

What are you guys talking about ? I don't recall any gasket being used on the crossover pipe. Anyone have a pic or part number ?

I replaced my gasket twice, after that I replaced the entire head pipe with this, no crossover.

Gasket Clamp 66813-09. There definitely is one. I have been driving around without the gasket and there is a hell of an exhaust leak going on. Had to order additional gaskets. Dealers don't even stock them. Dealers seem to stock very few parts for our bikes.

I believe FM addresses this issue on the header install sheet. Crossover must be installed at a right angle and twisted into position to avoid damaging the gasket. At least that was the case on my 16’ RGS

That is after the gasket has been placed in the pipe. FM just left the stock gasket in the pipe, which is way easier than trying to install a new one.

Get the exhaust pipe expander; less than $10. The crossover does not need to be expanded too much and the clamp WILL fit. Slide the expander in about 1 inch. Took me twice to get it open enough, for the gasket to go in without distorting it. I used some channel locks to open the clamp enough to slide on. My gasket is protruding about 1/8". Install the crossover and the crossover hanger without the slip-on. Get all that tightened up then install the slip-on. I did have to use a hammer handle between the swingarm and crossover (near the outlet) to push the crossover down to be able to slide on the slip-on. I also used the expander on the slip-on to make that easier. Don't forget a little anti-seize, before installing the slip-on.

Don't feed the MOCO unnecessary money. You can do this!!

OP... this is the ticket... it's really not that hard if you take your time and use the right tools...

I installed a headpipe on my old bike, and a friend's, this was the method I used... it really wasn't an issue at all. O n mine I changed the gasket, on my frined's bike there was no need to replace the gasket...

As mentioned, I also expand both mufflers before putting them on... and always use anti-seize... remember, you don't have to split them wide open, just enough to slip over the pipe (or fit the gasket)...
