Hate to ask, but. . . At what measurement do you replace your tires

Crap! I just did the penny measure and my fronts are on Lincoln's hairline. My rears are between his eyebrows & hairline. 8300-miles on the stock Dunlops.
Now I do have a set of American Elites to try. I picked them up today, with the $75 rebate.
Maybe I should lay off the front brake in city riding and take the curves slower in the hills.

I have been on the road twice when I discovered the cords exposed on my back motorcycle tire. Motorcycle tires wear pretty fast and have a relatively short life.
One if the primary reasons I went to a car tire is for the longer life of the tire. In addition, I have much better traction in heavy rain and the assurance of a higher load capacity with the CT over the MT.
Other benefits are a smoother ride and reduced cost of replacement.
During a recent visit to the Old Dominion Harley shop in Fredericksburg, VA, the site manager told me that any tire other than what was delivered new with the bike will void any Harley warranty on the bike. That was the visit were they took 4 weeks to make a few bolt on repairs to my bike under warranty. 4 weeks in the middle of riding season and they still didn't complete all the repairs.
Chad at Wide Open Cycles of Fredericksburg came into his shop on his day off to complete the job so I could get back on the road.
