You could, but why not spend a little more and get it painted to match instead of only cleared? Not difficult to remove or install, but it is a little time consuming. Mine was gloss black from the factory. After having done it, I wouldn't waste my time or money to get a flat black one cleared without getting it painted to match. Unless your bike is gloss black, that is.
