2015 Road Glide Special, never had a bike with ABS before this one add to that the linked brakes and I am sold hands down!

Technology like that is tested and proven to save lives.

OP - I have a 2016 Road Glide Special with ABS. I have close to 17,000 miles on it, and I've had ZERO troubles with the bike or the ABS.

Riding upstate couple of years ago, I took a phone call and trying to end the call I got distracted. Going about 40 MPH and not really concentrating on the road, I looked up to see a red light in a very busy intersection. I grabbed (and stomped) a hand/foot full of brake and held on. Bike stopped straight and true in a very short distance right before the intersection and just as a car was crossing my path, I would have made a nice hood ornament. Road was an old country road, gravely and loose...I made 2 choices that day, don't take phone calls while riding and never even think about buying another bike without ABS. Just my experience...

Once you've had a situation where ABS made a huge difference in stopping power you won't buy a bike without It's not like the ABS in your cage. It it simply locks down and brings you to a halt real quick when you need it to be. Also anybody that slid around in stop in go oil slicks without ABS will tell you the godsend it is on a two wheeler.

ABS saved my *** 2 nights ago. I wasn't paying attention and so all those years of riding went out the window with my "totally alert and always lucky". I looked down and when I looked up the truck I'd been following was at a full stop on the highway in front of me. Without thinking I just grabbed and stomped as much brake as I could...totally forgetting I even had ABS until I was at a complete stand still. Had to turn around and go home to change underwear. I know I would never have made that stop on my skill alone. BTW this was on a warm evening with a good road surface so ignore the comments about rain...ABS comes in handy anywhere and at anytime there is a requirement for an emergency stop.

I was hurrying to the motel, (for what reason I don't know). Coming upon an
intersection I noticed three vehicles stopped, waiting on a car ahead of me to clear the intersection. The first
car pulls out and is gone, the second one hesitates and then goes thru the intersection, the third one doesn't even
look, just pulls out in front of me. (I'm doing 55, [speeding])
So, I hit my non-ABS brakes; front first and try to feather the rears. Not slowing fast enough so I press harder. Here
comes the dreaded slapping side to side in the rear.
Finally, I'm going to miss the the truck, but what to do about the back and forth of the rear.
I let go of the rear brake as the bike is straight and roll on down the road; terrified. (even with wifey on back)

Would ABS have helped????? YES!!!
There are several times since ABS has saved us. (not my fault, though)
I'll never have a bike without them...................
You make your call.

On my third Harley with ABS. Have not had an issue with any of them. The 2011 was a bit strange when braking on a real rough road at low speed but always worked. The servicing every two years bugs me a bit but ABS for me is worth it. I have two other bikes without it .

On my 14 SGS, I had just pulled into the oncoming lane to pass a tractor when he decided to take a left into a field. At about 60, I was shocked at how fast the bike stopped. No ABS...and I probably wouldn't be here to tell you about it.

Now that the MoCo has FINALLY come up with an ABS system that works, I wouldn't buy one of their bikes without it.
