Ive never had a bike w ABS & being that Im in the Phoenix metro area & it rains 4 times a year for 15 mins I certainly dont see a need for it...now back in western PA with rain & wet leaves? Thats a different story...

ABS is great and it saved me once in a accident in which it was raining and a truck pulled in my lane. I still smashed the bike into his truck and the bike remained upright. people That saw the crash were impressed that I didn't "layer down". If you decide to go with out ABS I understand, cause I'm thinking about it too. But you must invest in training and panic stop practice. If you apply the brakes properly it's hard to lock up a wheel.

I would think that you have a LOT of oil at the red lights. Need to stop fast on the freshly rained on oh so briefly oil and it may come in handy!

Stay cool

Yeh, the only negative for ABS is it's expensive to repair sometimes, other than that....

Because computers can do reliably what us people cant. With abs when you hit the brakes hard the bike will not only slow down but stay at a point where controlling the bike is still possible. The abs will do this 100% of the time. Without abs it is impossible to always hit the brakes and keep it at that threshold.

as someone who always thought skill was more important, i no longer feel that way. Skill is still extremely important and braking should be practiced regularly, but abs will always improve ones emergency braking. More importantly it improves ones braking confidence.

Yes Im sure it is slick right after it rains. I have just installed a new Avon Storm rear tire which is supposed to be good in the rain. Ive always liked metzeler marathons which seem to get a bad rap when in the rain. Im not bashing ABS, my 09 ultra doesnt have it but the brembo brakes still seem great.

Go with the ABS. It's worth every penny.
